The space or area for the entertainment to take place in is the first and most important one to get right. There needs to be plenty of space ( a big area roomy enough to fit everyone in with plenty of room) ready and cleared of all obstacles if possible. Having the entertainer in a door way or in a walk way or in front of the food or drinks table just does not work and makes for a less then fantastic outcome.
In really hot weather the best place is inside in the air – conditioning if you have it… as this helps the entertainer in a hot costume and the magic Rabbit to keep cool…. Not to mention the kids and guests, it helps to make the whole show run smoother and more relaxed.
Under cover area, garage carport veranda pergola….is next on the preferred places list, shade is needed to guarantee a great show… if the sun is on the kids and in their faces or if the entertainer is in the sun it makes it harder than it needs to be to achieve an awesome result.
Outside shows can be great…..If it is outside then please note that shade is a must and remember that the use of most shade tents is not much help as the sun moves and most of the time there is not enough cover to have everyone in the shade.
Another thing that is needed for the outdoors is a rug or tarp for the kids to sit on so they don’t get bitten by ants.
Ready for the show:
Now we have the right space / suitable area, let’s talk about how to make this area ready for show time. The performance is best when there is no distraction to distract the kids from watching the show and getting 100% of the entertainment value.
Toys, mouth blowers etc.…. laying round or in their hands , food, drink, jumping castles right near the show area, spells trouble. Please consider not bringing out the food or give it to the kids before or during the show as this distracts from the show.
Adult and parent supervision at all time is the way to go. The entertainer is trained in handling kids and gives their best but adult and parent supervision is still required to allow the show to flow smoothly.
The show is designed for ages from 3 years to 10 years old.
With that being said most ages can enjoy the show.
It is encouraged that parents and the hosts of the party have someone to keep an eye on things…..to help prevent the kids getting up and causing interruption to the show or like what happens a lot…. the younger toddlers just get up and wonder around in front and behind the entertainer and interrupt the show.
So in a nut shell if everything that can be done is done to achieve the best environment for great manners and great behaviour from the kids …. then the show will be amazing and the kids and parents will rave about it for weeks and in some cases even years.
I was working the other day at the Gold coast exhibition centre and a mother come up to me and told me a great story of how I did her sons 5thbirthday party and he is now 15 and she still remembers it like yesterday as being so much fun and one of their favourite birthday memories.
Stories like that really move me and inspire me to do even better.
